Hi, I’m Abi Snyder, an mountain bike racer based in Roanoke, Virginia, the heart of East Coast mountain biking.

I primarily race Cross-Country Marathon (XCM) and Enduro, the two disciplines that I believe are closest to the roots of mountain biking: being out in the woods with friends and having fun on the trails. Over the past few years, I have competed at the XCM World Championships (2023, 2024, 2025) and XCM Pan American Championships (2023, 2024), as well as several XCO and XCM World Cup events. In 2025, I had the incredible opportunity to race the UCI World Championships in both Enduro and XCM in Switzerland. In 2026, I am looking to continue balancing XCM and enduro racing at a regional, national, and international level, all while advocating for getting more women on bikes (including continuing the 2025 Ride Fierce Racing Women’s Scholarship!). For me, community is the core of this sport and I’m so grateful to be a part of the East Coast mountain bike community–where roots, rocks, & mud are all part of the fun!

Along with training as an elite athlete, I am a community advocate for cycling, coaching the junior XC development team, working at the local bike shop, and advocating for improved access & safety for cyclists in the Roanoke area. My goal: more people (and especially women & girls!) on bikes.

I love the motto #ridebikesbehappy because I believe my story of being an “adult-onset athlete” can inspire people to realize that ANYONE can experience joy in getting outside and riding a bike.

In 2022, I started my own team, “Ride Fierce Racing.” I chose the mantra “Ride Fierce” several years ago because the word “fierce” reminds me of a cheetah–exceptionally beautiful, but also strong and dangerous.

Riding my bike is an opportunity for me to embrace the feelings of strength, beauty, and power that I believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience by getting active and getting outside.
